New ICE Detainer Policy

ICE has formally announced a significant change in its detainee policy.  Immigration officers must establish probable cause before issuing a detainer with federal, state, local or tribal LEA.  Documentation required for all detainers issued must be accompanied by a completed and signed I-200 Form (Warrant for Arrest of Alien) or a completed and signed I-205 Form (Warrant of Removal/Deportation).  This is effective April 2, 2017.  Agencies should ensure the new ICE policies and procedures are enforced and compliant before accepting detainees.
