LAUDERDALE COUNTY, MS —
Two escaped prison inmates have been captured in Lauderdale County, law enforcement officials said.
Jonathan Blankenship, 31, and Christopher Benson High, 28, escaped Friday from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County, officials with the Mississippi Department of Corrections said.
Law enforcement officials said someone spotted Blankenship Wednesday morning near Rush Hospital in Meridian and told a security guard, who called the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies found Blankenship and arrested him, authorities said.
High was captured soon after as he walked with two suspected homeless people near the hospital, law enforcement officials said.
Blankenship is serving a five-year sentence for aggravated assault on a police officer. High is serving 12 years for a burglary and larceny conviction.
