Approaching Hot Jail Issues Legally While Reducing Liability
Sheriffs and Jail Administrators understand the need for defensible policy and procedures. However, performing daily operations with limited budgets, aging facilities, and depleted and often inadequate staffing leaves a wake of difficulty. Further issues may arise from uncertainty in knowing and interpreting current case law to craft policies and procedures that are constitutionally safe. Jails, large and small, must stay ahead of the curve to know what is legally required and what options are available and legally defensible in order to create solid operational practices.
