Over 780 Corrections Professionals Earn NIJO National Certification
NIJO’s Professional Certification is a cornerstone of excellence in the corrections industry, providing corrections professionals the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain safety, security, and operational efficiency within their facilities. NIJO is pleased to announce that since it’s inception, over 780 corrections professionals from 28 states have earned one or more levels of NIJO Professional Certification–representing over 48,500 hours of legal-based training.
Professional Development for Administrators, Supervisors, and Officers
The National Institute for Jail Operations offers three distinct levels of certification designed to enhance the expertise of corrections personnel at all levels:
National Certified Corrections Officer (NCCO) – Ensures frontline correctional officers are proficient in inmate supervision, use-of-force policies, and ethical responsibilities.
National Certified Corrections Supervisor (NCCS) – Focuses on leadership, facility management, legal compliance, and staff development for supervisory personnel.
National Certified Corrections Executive (NCCE) – Designed for top-level administrators, covering strategic leadership, policy implementation, and best practices in correctional facility management.
Each certification requires extensive training and 100% passing score on all assessments, ensuring that those who earn the designation meet the highest standards in the field of corrections.
Recently, Labette County Sheriff’s Office in Kansas recognized seven of it’s correctional staff members successfully earned NCCO level certification, and four supervisors earned NCCS level certification. In their recent press release on this accomplisment, Sheriff Darren Eichinger stated:
"I am extremely proud of our staff for their hard work and determination in achieving these prestigious national certifications. The combined 930 hours of training exemplifies their commitment to ensuring safe and professional correctional services. These certifications are a testament to their dedication, and they set a high standard for the entire Sheriff's Office."
